Registered Professional Counselling

Welcome!

I’m so happy you’re here exploring what counselling has to offer.

My name is Caitlin Connelly – I'm a Registered Professional Counsellor (RPC-C) who is passionate about creating a safe, inclusive, non-judgmental space. I would love to walk alongside you as you travel the path of growth and expansiveness.

I’m open to working with anyone who is 18 and older, but might be an extra good fit for seniors, artists, survivors of domestic abuse, and folks experiencing chronic pain, anxiety, depression, grief, and loss.

I have a few specific things that can benefit the journey through counselling together:

A Person-Centered Approach – this means you’re in the driver’s seat and I’m right next to you, navigating. I love to use compassion and empowerment as my most reliable GPS (it’s so reliable because the battery life is infinite and it’s great at re-routing quickly).

Narrative Therapy Techniques – how you tell your story is one of the most impactful ways to influence a perspective. By exploring different storylines, characters, themes, and outcomes, you can start to write a story you really want to be a part of. The key to narrative therapy is the separation between story and character - “the person is not the problem; the problem is the problem” (Michael White).

Existential Exploration – life can throw some big, heavy experiences at you: the loss of a loved one, a change in career, or an uncertainty of identity, for example. How do you fit into this world? What is your purpose? What does all this mean? When you ask these complex questions, I would love to be a companion to listen and help answer them.

Somatic Sensation – our physical body and how it feels can be an indication of what we experience emotionally and mentally. By tapping into bodily sensations and the placement of physical symptoms, we can create a link between our inner and outer worlds. I use mindfulness, breathing techniques, and guided meditations to enhance the relationship with your physical body and what it might be trying to tell you.

Art-based Therapies – as a professional musician and art lover, I’m an advocate for self-expression and artistic non-judgment. How we express ourselves through non-verbal ways can often be just as enlightening as using words – not to mention activities like writing, painting, and music can be cathartic, meditative, and fun!

When it comes down to it, therapy involves tools shared by the counsellor and the client. It would be great if you could bring to our sessions:

  • A desire for growth

  • Honesty (only as much as you’d like to share)

  • Whatever you’d like to work on together

And I’ll contribute:

  • Non-judgment, compassion, and empathy

  • Applicable skills that are helpful to each unique situation

  • Commitment, reliability, and loyalty
